Wendy Mieske
Executive Director
wendym@ymcasatx.org

Wendy loves camp!  She started going to camp at the age of 11 and has not missed a summer yet.  That makes over 30 years of camp!  A Michigan native, she has also spent time working and volunteering at camps in Indiana and most recently Wisconsin. Her favorite things about camp are the feeling of community and belonging, giving campers and staff a place to shine, and CAMPFIRES!

Wendy married her husband Fred 15 years ago beside Blackman Lake at YMCA Camp Potawotami (in Indiana.)  They have two amazing kids— Wesley (age 13) and Rebecca (age 10) who are also huge fans of camp.  The whole family is beyond excited to be a part of CFA.  In her free time Wendy enjoys reading, hiking, spending time with her family, teaching children’s Bible Classes at church and watching ice hockey.. GO RED WINGS!

ashley henry
Business Manager
ASHLEYHE@YMCASATX.ORG

Ashley’s life is all about camp.. literally. She grew up just down the road from CFA at another summer camp! Ashley went to high school in Ingram and went on to attend college at Texas Tech University.  Ashley was a camper for ten years and a counselor for over three. She truly has a passion for camp and what it’s all about. She believes camp is about changing lives, making memories and being the person the Lord intended you to be— yourself! Growing up at a camp, she called it the “camp bubble.”

After graduating college with a degree in Psychology, she married her high school sweetheart, Nathan, in 2006. After living in Tucson Arizona, Houston and Austin, it was time to get back “home”. In October 2013, her husband was offered a job at her family camp as the boys director! Ashley has always felt like the Texas Hill Country is their home and could not be more excited to be back and working in the camp world. Ashley and her husband have two children, Blake and Caroline, and they are already loving life here in the heart of the Hill Country.

Adam Ayres
SENIOR CAMP PROGRAM DIRECTOR

After about a year and half, away Adam has come back to CFA and he couldn't be more excited! Adam is originally from Indiana but has spent much of the past 4 years here in the great state of Texas. After attending his first resident camp at 8 he knew camping is what he wanted to do forever and he hasn't missed a summer yet. Adam attended Indiana University to study Outdoor Recreation and Resource Management. He got his start in camping as a summer counselor and worked his way up through the system until he became a full-time staff member working with groups and conferences. He has been a day camp director and served as the summer camp program director at CFA. Now Adam is back at CFA and looking forward to helping kids grow through the camp experience.

Julia Cassill
SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Julia was born in California but grew up in San Antonio. She has been spending her summer at camps since she was four, but wasn’t a camper at CFA until she was twelve. Her twin sister was nominated for a leadership summer camp, so Julia decided to pick a different camp with different interests. Since then she has spent every summer at CFA. She was a camper for four years then transitioned through the leadership program into being a counselor. She spent every summer of her college career working at camp, where she was a camp counselor for two years, Pioneer Village Coordinator for one, then Assistant Director for two more. After she graduated from the McCombs Schools of Business at the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Finance and a minor in Management Information Systems she accepted a full time job here at Camp Flaming Arrow.  She is excited to live at camp, the best place in the world, full-time and to continue impacting the summer experience for campers and staff alike.

ASHLEY MONTGOMERY
HOSPITALITY DIRECTOR

ASHLEYMO@YMCASATX.ORG

Ashley has spent a lot of time at different camps across Texas. She started her camping journey at YMCA Hamman Ranch Camp as a camper. There her love for camp grew and she knew this was something she wanted to do for the rest of her life. She was a camper at Hamman for 4 years, and once it closed she started working at different camps across Texas. She has worked at 6 different camps throughout her camping career, with one of her favorite jobs being a Survival Instructor for Bear Grylls Survival Academy at YMCA Camp Cullen. While continuing to work at camps, she has also been studying Mathematics at Sam Houston State University (Eat 'em up Kats!) and will be graduating in the Fall of 2017. She has been working at CFA since the Summer of 2012, and is excited to be here with her dog Gunther. Her favorite thing about CFA is the family-feel you get due to being a small enough camp where you can get to know everyone.

She has worked for CFA for the last five summers and is now the Summer Camp Manager on an 18-month visa. Vicky loves working at camp as she loves to see the joy it brings to so many!
