The YMCA of Greater San Antonio & the Hill Country is firmly
committed to providing quality programs and safe educational
environments for all children and teens. As a nonprofit, human
services association, we are acutely sensitive to maximizing
resources in order to provide the best possible program for
the lowest cost to participants.
Frequently, working families need help to
pay for childcare, school age and teen leadership program
services. Our YMCA’s
annual Y Partners fundraising campaign provides scholarship
dollars to children, teens and families in need of assistance
to attend YMCA programs. Each family is asked to complete a
scholarship application that is evaluated before financial assistance
is awarded. Our YMCA provided $6.7 million in subsidized programs
and program scholarships in 2002 to children, teens and families
in our ten county service area.
Our YMCA has a long history of responsible
management, maximizing program capacity through collaborations
with schools, churches,
municipal agencies, businesses and other nonprofit organizations.
Our YMCA utilizes a multi-stream funding approach, with revenue
sources which include the Y Partners Annual Support Campaign;
Major Gifts; public grants; private foundations; United Way
funds; corporate and individual contributions; and special events.
Working closely with Child Care Delivery Services (CCDS), our
YMCA has been successful in leveraging additional monies for
San Antonio’s children, teens and families, and continues
to seek assistance and support for those families in need of
quality, affordable and accessible child, teen and family development
services.
We are confident that our YMCA continues to be among the finest
human services program providers available to families. We will
continue our efforts to maintain reasonable rates, responsible
stewardship, and quality child, teen and family development
programs; while, at the same time, conducting ongoing outcomes
assessments of programs, thus creating an ongoing program improvement
process. At the YMCA we build strong kids, strong families and
strong communities.
