Food + Fun = Healthy Summer for Kids

When the final school bells ring and summer break begins, millions of kids are at risk of going hungry. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, more than 30 million children receive free or reduced-cost meals through the National School Lunch Program, but only 2.3 million of these kids continue to receive meals through the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program.

As an active leader in First Lady, Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative, the Y is committed to help raise a healthier generation  of kids through Y Summer Youth Express. This program will provide youth with free lunches that are regulated by the Summer Food Service Program.

Ages 2 -18, children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult; Y membership is NOT required.
