The YMCA’s Counseling and Well-Being Services team consists of licensed and pre-licensed professionals dedicated to helping you on your journey to healing. Our culturally diverse team includes counselors who specialize in multiple evidence-based approaches. Our goal is to provide a safe environment of unconditional support, understanding, and compassion. From anxiety and depression to trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, our counselors are prepared to assist in your journey toward recovery. Clients can be seen as many times as they need. If you’re concerned about costs, financial assistance is available to help make our services more affordable.

No, you do not need to be a member of the San Antonio YMCA to book counseling services.
 


Our team of experienced therapy providers and counselors specializes in various areas, including marriage counseling, couples therapy, CBT therapy, and treatment for depression and addiction. We treat both adults and children. We’re dedicated to providing compassionate and effective care tailored to your needs.
 

Notice Concerning Complaints

Counseling Services Complaint Process

We are committed to providing ethical, high-quality counseling services. If you have a concern or complaint, we encourage the following steps:

1. Speak With Your Counselor- Whenever possible, discuss your concern directly with your counselor to seek clarification or resolution.

2. Contact the Clinical Supervisor -If the issue is not resolved, you may escalate the concern to the counselor’s Clinical Supervisor, Michael Saahene LPC-S at michaelsa@ymcasatx.org or 210-796-3732.

3. File a Grievance with the Association Director of Counseling & Well-Being- You may submit a formal written complaint to our Association Director of Counseling & Well-Being at kristineg@ymcasatx.org.  We will review the concern and provide written findings when appropriate.

File a State Licensing Complaint-If you believe ethical or legal violations occurred, you may file a complaint with the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC), the state governing body for licensed counselors and other behavioral health professionals. BHEC is located in the George HW Bush State Office Building:
