Community Response and Support
We need your support more than ever as the Y reaches out to better serve the community. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today. If you would like to contribute in other ways, please contact Catherine Alvarado at catherinea@ymcasatx.org or 210-246-9647.
We’re picking up speed to serve our community resource partners, our region's most vulnerable, and first responders affected by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). In times like these, it’s critical that we work together as a community to lift those most impacted by health and economic challenges. As a leader in youth development, we are supporting our social services network providers, essential providers such as (e.g. health care providers, law enforcement and first responders, government officials, community service agencies) who need safe and reliable places for their children. Our Early Learning Centers continue to operate child care and healthy meals with a regular schedule. We are also in the process of adding additional sites to meet the needs of additional families.
Our Y team is reaching out to our senior members with check-in calls to see how they are doing and if they need any resource connections. We are committed to the seniors in our community and want to let them know we are here for them – always. Additionally, many of our YMCAs are operating as food distribution sites in partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank. As always, if you want to learn more about our social responsibility efforts during this unprecedented time, please feel free to visit ymcasatx.org or contact Catherine Alvarado at catherinea@ymcasatx.org or 210-246-9647.
Physical activity is a critical component to allow your body to stay healthy and fight viruses and infections. Please check out our free, virtual workouts for members of all ages and fitness levels, including seniors and children! These online classes will be available through Les Mills OnDemand and YMCA 360.
