Youth Sports

Youth Sports allows young people to develop skills and build healthy lifestyles through teamwork, fun and fair play. Our coaches are caring volunteers that help guide our children through learning the essentials of physical fitness, healthy development, and participation. There are no tryouts in our non-competitive sports programs. Both team and individual sports are available.

Fall Sports are back. Register today and join us for a full fall season and the return to games safely. Indoor and outdoor sports vary by Branch, see offering below. We are excited to get teams back together and return to our traditional sports seasons.



SPRING CREDIT

Please be sure to utilize any available credits you may have on your account from the cancellation of the spring sports season.

To see your credit: Log into your account on the top right after selecting the program you wish to sign up for. 

  • Your account was set up when you registered for Spring. If you do not remember your password, use "Forgot Password" to retrieve it. Be sure to use the same email address used when you registered. If you create a new account, you will not be able to see or use your credit when registering.

  • Under account view >> View Account credits to see what is available on your account. 

  • Add the program of choice to your cart >> at checkout the credit will automatically be applied.

Team Sponsor

1. WHAT IS PLAYERSPACE?

Playerspace is a sports communication portal that the YMCA of Greater San Antonio Sports Program has partnered with to enhance and improve the overall communication for our sports leagues.


2. WHAT INFORMATION WILL BE ON PLAYERSPACE FOR PARENTS?

Parents will find all the essential information for the league. You can find game schedules, snack lists, coach contact information, end of season party information, action shots of the team and weather status updates and cancellations for games and practices.


3. WHAT INFORMATION WILL I BE RESPONSIBLE FOR POSTING ON PLAYERSPACE?

As a coach, you will be responsible for posting snack lists, your contact information, end of season party information and practice cancellations. You will also be responsible for communicating with your team via the message center. Game schedules will be posted by your Sports Director. Weekly automated messages are sent out via Playerspace each Monday and Friday to you and your parents informing them of their schedule for the week.


4. HOW DO I GET ON TO PLAYERSPACE?

When you sign-up to coach a team, you automatically are registered with an account on Playerspace. There is no need to create a new account! You will receive an e-mail with your username and password the first week of practice. From there you can visit playerspace.com and click “sign-in” at the top right corner. There is also a mobile app in the Google Play Store and the App Store for iPhone – the app is “Playerspace”.


5. WHERE WILL I GO TO USE PLAYERSPACE AS A COACH?

Just visit your team’s site and your “Coaches Corner” will be on the upper right-hand corner. There are four essential tools that you can click on to utilize Playerspace.


6. WHAT IF I AM NOT RECEIVING E-MAILS FROM PLAYERSPACE?

Be sure to check your junk, trash and spam folders for Playerspace. You will need to add [email protected] and [email protected] to your safe sender list. If you still are not receiving e-mails contact your Sports Director at your local YMCA.


7. WHAT IF MY TEAM ROSTER OR GAME SCHEDULE IS NOT PRESENT ON PLAYERSPACE?

If you are missing any essential team information such as game schedule or roster, contact your Sports Director at the branch you are coaching for. Helpful video links can be found on the coach help site at http://coaches.playerspace.com.


8. HOW DO I INVITE A PARENT TO BE A FAN OF THE LEAGUE?

You can add a fan to your team (mom, dad, grandma, grandpa or just a friend) by clicking on the roster tab at the top, clicking on the “Add to Roster” tab on the left and entering that person’s first and last name and e-mail address and inviting them to the team. This will give them the ability to receive all team updates, view the schedule and follow the team for the season.


9. IS THERE AN APP FOR PLAYERSPACE?

Yes, there is app in both iTunes App Store for Apple and in the Google Play Store for Android. The download is free and you can do everything from your phone that you would do on your desktop as a coach. This is very common and very easy to fix! Let your coach know that you need to be invited as a “fan” of the league. Your coach will need your e-mail and phone number and you will receive and e-mail with a link that you will need to click on to be added. From there you are then able to see all of the necessary league information.


5. WHAT IF I AM NOT RECEIVING E-MAILS FROM PLAYERSPACE?

6. I HAVE MORE THAN ONE CHILD AND I CAN ONLY SEE ONE OF MY CHILDREN’S TEAM INFORMATION. HOW DO I SEE MY OTHER CHILDREN’S INFORMATION?

Make sure you are not on your child’s dashboard and you are logged in as yourself as the master account. To tell if you are logged in as one of your children, see if it states your name’s dashboard or your child’s dashboard. To easily login as yourself, simply visit playerspace.com and login with your credentials that were e-mailed.


7. WHAT IF I DID NOT RECEIVE MY LOGIN CREDENTIALS?

If you need your login credentials because you do not have them, just contact your coach or your Sports Director at your local YMCA to have them re-sent.


8. IS THERE A MOBILE APP FOR PLAYERSPACE?

Yes, there is! The Playerspace mobile app is available in the App Store for iPhones and Google Play Store for Android. It is free and does not use much data. Your login credentials will be the same for online and on the app.

experience for your child.

YMCA Youth Sports COVID-19 Safety Information & Expectations

The YMCA will continue to monitor current state and local guidelines to ensure participant safety. We reserve the right to increase or decrease expectations based on the ever-changing information. The safety of your family is important to get kids active again.

 

Outdoor Sports:
 

  1.  Symptoms screening will be posted for everyone to see if they exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19.

  2. Effective Immediately: all spectators, Coaches, and Officials will be required to wear masks at all practices and games for the duration of the season. All individuals 10 and older by ordinance must wear a mask at all YMCA facilities.

    Kids will not be required to wear masks while actively practicing and playing in games.

  3. Immediate family only will be able to attend games and practices.


Staff

  • Will be required to attend the mandatory training on our COVID-19 guidelines and safety procedures.
  • Staff who are not officials will be required to wear masks when engaging with families.
  • Must check-in before each clinic, have their temperature taken, and complete a symptoms checklist.
  • Officials will practice social distancing on fields when possible


Volunteers/Coaches

  • Will attend seasonal coach meeting and be trained on COVID-19 safety in addition to seasonal sports training.
  • Volunteers must report any coaches, kids, or parents that may be exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms to YMCA staff so we can handle the situation accordingly and follow up with steps for return/removal.
  • Must maintain social distancing from officials and other teams when possible.


Equipment

  • Kids will be required to bring their own water and not share.
  • Kids are encouraged to bring their own equipment when possible.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at each field.


Parents

  • Parents can attend but immediate family only. This is to limit the number of people at the facility.
  • Parents and kids 10 years or older must bring a mask with them.
  • Parents will be able to sit next to fields but must maintain social distancing of 6 ft. or more. Staff will be enforcing this, if 6 ft. isn’t possible then a mask is required.
  • When arriving Parents must wear a mask until they can safely distance themselves from other parents.

 

Indoor Sports:
 

  1.  Symptoms screening will be posted for everyone to see if they exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19.

  2. According to state and local guidelines, individuals engaging in the form of an activity Indoors are not required to wear masks. This will include participants, coaches, and officials during games and practice.

  3. Parents will be required to wear masks at all times Indoors. One Parent per child allowed at practice and games.

  4. All individuals entering an indoor facility must be temperature checked and wear their mask until they begin their activity.

  5. Teams will enter through one entrance and exit through another exit only. Waiting teams/games will not be allowed in the facility until the previous teams have exited.
     

Staff

Value of YMCA Youth Sports

50% Playing Time

YMCA guarantees a child will play a minimum of 50% of the time in every sport. This Best Practice allows the child the time to grow and develop their confidence and skills.

Requests

Participants can request to play with a certain coach, or a friend or player. During General and Late Registration, requests are not guaranteed.

Member Discount

Members receive a discount on Youth Sports and other Y Programs.
